This book tries to change those views. But an effort can’t really overcome the opposition on what it means to run a full campaign. I’ve never seen a way for conservative candidates at a Democratic nominating convention to get a meaningful answer. For the Republican party, as long as the conservative base does that much, perhaps that does constitute their biggest risk when it comes to running a full-time campaign at a national or national convention. That is one of the things that I think was alluring at the time.
